Making A Start With Fitness
Being fit is a concept that comes naturally to some people, it even gives them enjoyment. Whilst others struggle to grasp the concept of a training and couldn't think of anything worse than getting up at the crack of dawn to head down to the testosterone fuelled gym to sweat your nuts off and to hear 'Big Al' telling just about anybody who'll listen that he's just set a new bench press PB. But whether you like it or not sooner or later the likelihood is you are going to be told by your partner/friend/doctor that you need to get a little bit fitter; and that thought probably scares the life out of you!
Now, the HARDEST part of getting fit is STARTING! This piece of advice can be applied to anything from starting your own business to starting training in order to get fit. The problem with us humans is we live in fear. We fear uncertainty, we fear failure, and therefore we fear trying!
I also have a passion for business and I've lost count of the amount of people young and old who've said to me "I've always wanted to run my own business" and when I've asked them why nearly every single one of them said "Because of the state of the economy" or "Because I didn't know where to start", both of these answers can be related back to asking people why they haven't started getting fit.
The reason why many people haven't started getting fit is because they don't know where to start and often they are embarrassed about the state of their bodies. But the thing is IF YOU TRY AND WAIT FOR THE PERFECT CONDITIONS YOU WILL BE WAITING FOREVER!
A lot of peoples fear when it comes to getting fit is also entering into a new environment such as the gym. For some reason there is a perception amongst people that unless you go into a gym, lift heavy weights and are absolutely stacked people will almost laugh at you. However, that's not the case! Sure, you have your odd ego driven, gear injecting, selfing taking, grunting brute in there who will try and make you feel uncomfortable by picking up the largest weights on the rack before asking you if you've finished with the bench whilst your still lying on it. However, those kind of creatures are a lot more scarce than people realise and as a matter of fact the vast majority of people gyms have a lot of respect for 'new-comers' as everyone at some point has been in that position, hitting their first session in the gym, as believe it or not nobody came out of the womb with 19inch arms or a six pack.
